Shawn Pelech (she/her)
Portsmouth, New Hampshire

The Three Sisters - Dingle, Ireland
Shawn Pelech is a painter from Portsmouth NH. She taught art in the public schools and continues to paint and teach in and out of the studio. She is plein air oil painter, making responsive and observational work. Being in the landscape with its changing light and atmosphere is exhilarating and challenging.
“Always looking for the right spot and searching for the light, I paint from observation and the perception of those observations. Painting is a life long endeavor that gets richer and better the more you do it. It’s about the painter and her interaction with the environment.
I am working more in the studio from plain air studies and finding it to be a way to change up what was right in front of me.”
Shawn has been influenced by Jon Imber. Stuart Shils, Lois Dodd, Elizabeth O’Reilly, and Chris Liberti. She shows her work at the Levy Gallery in Portsmouth, and the 830 Gallery in Key West. She was awarded a residency at the Vermont Studio Center and has won awards at the Gafney Library, and received 1st place in Key West Historical Society plein air paint out 2018. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, the Kittery Art Association and the Concord Ma Art Association.
